3Lithium STG motors are brushless. Here is what changes compared with a brushed motor and which models are in the series.

Brushed and brushless

In a conventional electric motor, brushes rub against the commutator to turn the rotor. That friction wears the brushes, which have to be replaced over time, and produces heat.

A brushless motor turns thanks to an electronic controller that switches the magnetic field. There are no rubbing parts inside the motor, so there are no brushes to replace.

What you notice on the kayak

  • Less internal maintenance, because there are no brushes to wear out.
  • Less heat: energy not lost to friction goes to the propeller.
  • Quiet running: the main sound is the propeller moving water.

Models in the STG series

  • EVO STG 3CV 42V with a 1,300 Wh battery and foot pedal, the most powerful in the range (about 2,200 W peak). Also in Black Edition.
  • EVO STG 3CV 24V with a 1,100 Wh battery and foot pedal, also in Black Edition.
  • STG PPK 1CV 42V with a 1,100 Wh battery and foot pedal, Black Edition.
  • For float tubes: STG-PP1, 24 V and 750 W, and STG-PP2, 42 V and 1,800 W.

The EVO STG 3CV 42V has a control unit with a digital display, and every kit includes the HAA safety system. → See the STG series

The maintenance you still need

Brushless does not mean care-free: rinse the motor and connectors after each trip, especially at sea, check the propeller and store the battery half charged.
