A float tube motor moves you across the water without fins, so you reach your spots without tiring and keep your hands free to fish. 3Lithium makes three float tube motors: the 1 hp MP2 with integrated battery, the 24 V, 750 W STG-PP1, and the 42 V, 1,800 W STG-PP2. This guide explains how they differ, which battery each one takes and how to tell whether it fits your float tube.

Why fit a motor to your float tube
On a float tube you move with fins. With a motor, your feet rest, the propeller does the travelling and you reach your spot with energy left to fish. The MP2 has 5 speeds and reverse so you can position yourself exactly where you want to cast, and its quiet running does not interfere with fly fishing.
The three 3Lithium float tube motors
| Model | Power and voltage | Battery | Range per spec sheet | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MP2 1CV 750Wh | 1 hp (750 W) | Integrated TR1650, included | 3 to 4 h at medium speed | €1,299.99 |
| STG-PP1 | 750 W, 24 V | Included: 750 Wh NMC lithium | A full day of fishing, according to the manufacturer | €999.90 |
| STG-PP2 | 1,800 W, 42 V | Included, 42 V | 4 to 5 h or more at cruising speed and over 8 h at low speed, with the 1,300 Wh | €1,999.95 |
Prices include VAT, October 2026. The ranges are those given by the manufacturer on each spec sheet and vary with the weight of the angler and their kit, the wind and the current.
MP2: the complete kit with integrated battery
The MP2 comes with the TR1650 battery built into the system and the HAA man-overboard system as standard. You choose the remote when you buy: wireless or potentiometer. It is the option for anyone who wants a motor ready to go without thinking about separate batteries. It takes a dual battery if you need more range later on.
STG-PP1: 24 V and modular design
The STG-PP1 is the float tube motor of the STG platform. It runs at 24 V and is sold as a complete kit: motor, 750 Wh NMC lithium battery, STG controller, charger and mount. It does not work with 12 V or 16.8 V batteries. Its modular design makes maintenance and part replacement easier, it is controlled by potentiometer or telemetry and it has the HAA system.
STG-PP2: 1,800 W at the same weight as the PP1
The STG-PP2 is the evolution of the PP1. It keeps the same weight and format, but moves up to 42 V and 1,800 W, more than double the 750 W of the PP1. That means more thrust to overcome wind or current and more speed to cross large reservoirs. The fin is CNC-machined aluminium. The motor is cooled by the water it runs in (3Li Water Inside system), uses anti-corrosion materials for salt water and it includes telemetry with power, battery and temperature data.
Mind the battery: the PP2 needs a 42 V battery. The PP1's 24 V batteries will not work with it.
How to choose between the three
- You want to head out without worrying about the battery: MP2, which has it built in.
- You want the most affordable of the three: STG-PP1, at €999.90 with battery, charger and mount.
- You fish large reservoirs, in wind or current: STG-PP2, for its 1,800 W.
The PP1 does the job on calm water. The PP2 is designed for anyone who needs the most power in the 3Lithium float tube range.
Will it fit my float tube?
3Lithium motors fit the vast majority of float tubes with the 3LI universal mount or, in the case of the STG-PP2, with its own float tube mount. For the SIKKARIO X-FAST, HART Guardian and V-Sail Pro there is direct fitting for the MP2. If your float tube has an unusual shape, send us the model and we will check it before you buy.
Maintenance
Maintenance is short: rinse the motor with fresh water after using it in salt water, check the connectors from time to time and charge the battery as the manufacturer indicates. The motors have no brushes, a part that wears with use in other motors.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the most powerful 3Lithium float tube motor?
The STG-PP2, with 1,800 W at 42 V. It weighs the same as the STG-PP1, which has 750 W at 24 V.
How long does a float tube motor battery last?
According to the manufacturer's spec sheets, the MP2 gives 3 to 4 hours at medium speed; the STG-PP1, a full day of fishing with its 750 Wh battery; and the STG-PP2, 4 to 5 hours or more at cruising speed with the 1,300 Wh battery. The angler's weight, the wind and the current change those figures.
Can I use the STG-PP1 battery on the STG-PP2?
No. The PP1 runs at 24 V and the PP2 at 42 V, so the PP2 needs a 42 V battery.
Can it be used in salt water?
Yes. The STG-PP2 uses anti-corrosion materials made for the sea. On all models you need to rinse with fresh water after every trip in salt water.
Do I need fins if I have a motor?
While the motor is moving you, you do not need them. Even so, it is worth carrying them on board in case the battery runs out before you get back.
